Living in Pink in was founded in 2004 by Michele Conley. Michele had a successful career, was a mother of four, an accomplished athlete, and an important member of the community when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002? Seemingly unfazed by her treatments, she made a quick recovery and decided to fight back by starting Living in Pink, an organization of friends, family, and members of the medical community. Having participated in the Peeke Performer’s, led by Dr. Pamela Peeke, MD, Michele found she had a lot in common with other mothers and businesswomen who were breast cancer survivors. Michele found that the fight against breast cancer is a journey that can be a surprisingly positive life-changing experience for the patients, their family and friends.  The goal was to raise funds for breast cancer research and to bring a message of hope and encouragement to others affected by the disease.

Michele had a recurrence in 2004? Rather than despair about her situation, she renewed her resolve to continue the fight and to live an active and fulfilling life – skiing, playing tennis and running marathons, but most importantly having fun and spending time with friends and family. Her motto, which has become the motto for Living in Pink is Live, Love, Laugh… Michele succumbed to Breast Cancer in 2014. It would be inaccurate to say that she lost the battle, as most that knew her would agree that she squeezed 80 years of a beautiful life into 53.

The Mission of Living in Pink is to improve the lives of those living with breast cancer, celebrate the survivors and the individuals who fight the battle against breast cancer, and to help find a cure so that the next generation of women will not have to endure the emotional and physical pain of breast cancer surgery and treatment.

Funding Research

Since its inception in 2004, Living in Pink contributions have helped to fund a variety of local and national research endeavors to further the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

The chance of developing invasive breast cancer at some time in a woman’s life is about 1 in 8 (12%). In 2016, an estimated 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S. …

We provide Hope and Inspiration for those living with Breast Cancer. We invite survivors, family members, and those currently being treated to attend one of our events…
